HELENA 鈥?The first Democratic candidate to announce he was running for Montanas eastern district congressional seat says hes now ending his campaign.Jack Ballard, an outdoor writer from Red Lodge, released a statement Thursday. Today Im ending my campaign for Montanas Second Congressional District, he said. To be bluntly honest, weve failed to raise the financial resources necessary to realistically keep paying campaign staff and fund t stanley cup ravel, advertising, materials and o stanley cup ther basic expenses through the primary. Ballard told MTN his experiences during the campaign showed him the extensive fundraising and time commitments required for a congressional race have become a significant barrier 鈥?especially for working people. We need to really reduce the impact of money, he said.According to federal campaign filings, Ballard raised just over $71,000 in 2021. He was challenging incumbent Republican Rep. Matt Rosendale, who has raised more than $1 million.This is the first time in 30 years that Montana will have two representatives in the U.S. House. SHEPHERD 鈥?The Yellowstone County Sheriffs Office and the Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department are investigating an early morning house fire on 11041 Peaceful Plateau Trail.Yellowstone County Coroner Cliff Mahoney confirmed to Q2 News that a person has died. He did not comment further on the age or gender of that p jordan erson.The mobile home appears to be a complete loss.The area was blocked off by caution tape and they are treating the entire area as a crime scene.The fire department was working on hot-spots.No word on the amount of damages, or if there were any injuries or if th jordan e residence was occupied at the time of the fire.This is a developing story.
